There is no need to prepare! Singers will be taught on the day.
This fantastic event will be raising funds for eight Hampshire hospices, including Oakhaven! Come and visit us in the hospice village on the day!
Come and join Voices for Hospices Choir as they sing and raise their voices, and funds, for Hampshire Hospices.
Many people have witnessed at first hand just how music can move and unite performers and audiences. The messages of peace, tolerance and acceptance within “The Armed Man”, originally conceived in the wake of the war in Kosovo, have proven to be ones that people find universal, both in times of peace, and with life limiting and end of life issues.
We at Voices for Hospices Choir have used “The Armed Man” many times over the years at our Come and Sing concerts, both in UK, Italy and France, and we not only raise our voices in unity for peace and understanding, but also we have also raised many hundreds of thousands of pounds for our Hospices.
The last unaccompanied movement “God shall wipe away all tears”, often accompanied only with the lights on our mobile phones, is almost unbearably moving and heartfelt.
We hope that our performances will inspire such reflection and provide solace.
We are performing in Thornden Hall Arts Theatre on Sunday 20th September.
There will be two performances (to accommodate the usual numbers of singers and audience that we expect.)
Usually singers outnumber our audiences, and so we will have the singers in the audience tiered seating and the audience where the choir normally sits!
There is a lovely special prize for those that book the two concerts, plus a price reduction! There is a short rehearsal before each performance at 2.00pm and 7.00pm, with concerts starting at 3.00pm and 8.00pm.
There will be a two-hour meal/rest break between the two. Bring a picnic and drinks (although the theatre bar will be open.)
As always, we ask that singers wear a splash of purple.
