Mental Health First Aid - Become an MHFAider(R)

What do we learn in the course?

  • How to proactively protect your mental health
  • How to address the stigma and discrimination around mental health
  • The Stress Container
  • The Mental Health Continuum
  • Recognising the symptoms of poor mental health and deciding when/why to act
  • How to support and signpost those needing help
  • What resources are available

How do we learn on the course?

The MHFA course is interactive and includes presentations, group work, discussions, films, and quizzes. We also provide a workbook for you to make notes in and take home. Our instructor is very experienced in delivering the course and creating a safe place for learning. She has been trained and is licensed by Mental Health First Aid England to deliver this course and mental health awareness courses to adults, adults working with young people and courses for the workplace. 

When: Monday 29 - Tuesday 30 July from 9 am - 5 pm, on both days.

Where: Freemantle Baptist Church, Testwood Road, Southampton, SO15 8RL. Free street parking is available.

Who will benefit?

Attending will benefit you and improve your ability to support those you work with, live with, and socialise with to get the help and support they may need. No prior knowledge or experience is needed. You will become a part of the MHFAider community, receiving member support and benefiting from ongoing online training opportunities for three years after completing the course. You will be able to include Mental Health First Aider as a skill on your CV and you will receive a certificate of attendance.

How much will it cost?

The RRP is £325pp BUT if you are a member of New Forest Business Partnership, Waterside Network Group or the Southampton Mental Health Network it will be £250pp.

There may also be subsidised places, so if you are cash-strapped, please ask if any are still available. Thank you

What to bring to the training?

A pen and lunch. 

Tea, coffee and water will be provided.
