Springing Forward
Brrr it's chilly, however the evidence is everywhere that spring is well and truly sprung and it's now time to leap into British Summertime too: clocks go forward by an hour at 1am on Sunday morning. For most of us the prospect of longer evenings is a welcome boost after the winter we've had - worth losing an hour's sleep tomorrow night and the inevitable readjustment for our own time clocks next week!
The first ever New Forest Business Show took place in 2015 at Berthon; for several years it was held in the grounds of Brockenhurst College, and subsequently featured within the main New Forest Show. Springing forward to 2026 and after a break, the New Forest Business Show is back and as the New Forest business economy continues to grow and its community to strengthen, promises to be bigger and better than ever. It will have its own venue at the New Forest Showground on Thursday 18 June and now invites exhibitors to sign up and visitors to save the date: see below.
New Forest Escapes are House Hunting!
As Easter Weekend draws near, holiday home owners in the New Forest will be looking forward to the start of the new holiday season. Likely looking to maximise returns, too!
Award-winning local holiday home experts New Forest Escapes deploy a range of measures including dynamic pricing, top notch professional photography, investing in revenue driving amenities and above all selling the 'holiday experience rather than the house'. Their approach ensures higher click-through rates, stronger pricing and higher revenue.
The appetite for sustainable staycations is likely to increase further thanks to the uncertainty and anxiety created by current world events. For holiday home owners and investors now is the perfect time before the new season gets fully underway, to review whether you're maximising the revenue potential of your property.
New Forest Escapes MD Jane Wilkinson says: 'we deliver dream holidays for guests, but we also talk facts, figures, and do a lot of hand holding with our host owners – who all have different requirements and situations.'

A Spectacular Summer Awaits!
Along with Solent Music Festival and Lymington Seafood Festival which we featured last week, another big summer date for Lymington diaries is the much loved Summer Spectacular.
Now hosted by Lymington and Pennington Town Council (known in recent years as 'Picnic in the Park'), it takes place this year on Sunday 2 August at its usual home in Woodside Park. This is a thoroughly family event with something for all ages to enjoy throughout the day. It's FREE to attend, and parking (a contentious subject right now in the forest) is FREE too.
This year will be especially 'spectacular', featuring for the first time live jousting on horseback from The Knights of Royal England and the excitement, colour and spectacle of medieval tournament action.
There's lots more: falconry displays offering a close up look at magnificent birds of prey, a Skate Jam where riders can show off their skills, ferret racing, a brand new Arts and Crafts Village curated by The Little Craft Shack, the popular dog show and sports day races, live music, plus of course the traditional car show, always an especial magnet for enthusiasts and a treat for us all.
Click the link to read more - and get a taste of the thrill and pageantry of medieval times. And mark the date in your diaries: Sunday 2 August!

Other News & Easter Activities
On the eve of the Hammersley Homes ULTRACK 50, the Lymington mental health charity is delighted to share that it has been awarded £439,226 in funding from The National Lottery Community Fund, the largest funder of community activity in the UK. Spread over 3 years, the money will be used to expand and develop the charity's Outreach Programme, which provides long-term support to vulnerable adults who live with enduring mental health challenges. Waiting lists for mental health help are ever lengthening, and the grant will go a long way towards meeting increasing local demand.
