Chiropodist or Podiatrist - who should I see?
This is a frequently asked question and the answer is they are both the same. “Chiropodist” is a more traditional title and is the term used by most practitioners who have been qualified the longest and “Podiatrist” is the title that has been adopted by the profession to modernise its image.
The title chiropodist or podiatrist is now protected, ensuring that only practitioners who have completed a three-year training course and are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council can use these titles. If you are unsure about your chiropodist or podiatrist’s qualifications, more information is available at www.hpc-uk.org or www.scpod.org
