Hammersley Homes is on a terrific mission, to provide a home for life for the enormous number of adults living with long term mental distress: typically living alone in chaos or with family whose own lives are impacted and who one day won’t be there for them. Some are homeless. They're often without friends or a sense of community or purpose – vital elements of our general wellbeing.

Tesco In-Store Vote

The Tesco Community Grant is a scheme which gives community projects like us grants of up to £1,500. Tesco customers in Lymington, New Milton. Lyndhurst, Brockenhurst and Highcliffe store can vote during April, May and June to decide how much funding we get, so please support us next time you shop at Tesco!

For this Mothering Sunday, a perpsective from a mother of a child with an enduring mental illness, for whom the care doesn’t end when her child reaches adulthood. Hammersley Homes is on an enormous mission to provide a "home for life" for such adults: where they can live in a long-term, secure environment that offers companionship and help with daily struggles; and their mothers can re-find the time and energy to focus on their own wellbeing - before they are gone!

Working with a team of trained volunteers, we visit vulnerable people who suffer with mental health challenges, in their own homes in the New Forest and surrounding areas, relieving loneliness and doing what we can to help them to live their best life. Through offering a hand of friendship and helping them with any tasks they may be struggling with – such as shopping, cooking, helping with incoming mail, online access, budgeting, benefits, liaising with care workers, sorting and clearing, social interaction, hobbies or simply going out for a walk or a drive – lives can be enriched with kindness and compassion.

Walk 22 for 2022

Do something amazing and take on our newest fundraising challenge!

Twenty-two in 2022 is the challenge to walk 2,022 steps, or 2.2 kilometres a day or 22,000 steps or 22 kilometres in a week – or any distance you choose for as may days as you choose, to raise funds for our Hammersley Homes project

Safety, security, comfort and friendship for people whose condition cannot be cured

Established in 2018 in Lymington, Hammersley Homes is a local charity with a big mission: to provide a home for life, for adults suffering from enduring mental illness –people whose condition cannot be cured and who will not recover.

Following the introduction of the “Care in the Community” initiative in the 1980’s, many of the residences, homes and hospital wards which used to accommodate adults who suffered from enduring mental illness were closed, and the closures continue.

Now, all too frequently, these unfortunate and vulnerable people live alone, often in chaos and unable to manage; or they are homeless; or live with family who one day won’t be there for them. They live too often without friends or a sense of community, a sense of purpose – things we all need for our general wellbeing.

Hammersley Homes aims to provide long-term supported homes for this vulnerable sector, reducing their loneliness and chaos by giving them a safe and secure home for life, a community to live in with friends, and bring some fun, meaning and purpose back into their lives.

Living in a Hammersley Homes community will introduce safety, security, routine and purpose to their lives, and keep them occupied, entertained and out of trouble with the law.
