Local Interest Talk - WW2 Flying Life
Richard Hodgkinson will present on his father's WW2 experiences with the Royal Australian Air Force, flying a variety of British, American and German flying boats in the battles of the Atlantic, Mediterranean and Pacific, for which he received the DFC. He first came to the UK in 1940 and completed his training at RAF Calshot. He returned in 1946 to fly passenger flying boats for BOAC from Southampton Water. A resident in Lymington for over 50 years he is buried in St. Thomas' churchyard. Richard's presentation will also include a WW2 Pathe Newsreel of his father flying on patrol from RAF Mount Batten.
