Description
The AGM of the Friends of St Thomas Church takes places on Thursday, 7 November at 6pm in the church. The formal part of the proceedings will take approximately 30 minutes and then there will be an entertaining talk by Philip St Lawrence: "The Story of Alfred the Great, the Christian Warrior King". At Easter 878 Alfred faces his darkest moment as the Vikings seek to subdue all of Wessex. Hear how he confronts this threat and brings about the birth of Christian, English nationhood.
All are welcome. Come and enjoy a glass of wine as you learn about this important Wessex monarch.
