St Barbe Open 2026
23 May-4 July
St Barbe Museum + Art Gallery is thrilled to announce the return of the St Barbe Open Exhibition, showcasing the extraordinary talent of artists from Hampshire, Dorset and beyond. Running from 23 May – 4 July 2026.
Hundreds of artworks are submitted for consideration by our panel, who carefully curate the exhibition and award prizes to outstanding entries. The exhibition not only celebrates artistic talent within the community but also provides an opportunity for artists to gain exposure and recognition for their work.
The St Barbe Open Exhibition is not only a showcase of art but also an opportunity for visitors to acquire high-quality, affordable artwork. With a wide selection of artworks and mediums on display, there is something to suit every taste and budget.
Visitors to the exhibition can expect to be captivated by a diverse array of paintings, prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics and textiles, all reflecting the immense creativity and talent of the local arts community.
In Gallery 3 we display the Young Artists artwork, children are invited to submit an artwork for display in three age groups, with an opportunity to win a prize! Its wonderful to see them develop their art practice, many go on to submit as young adults.
We are lucky enough to have some wonderful sponsors who provide prizes as an extra incentive to artists. Special thanks to our prize sponsors: Kate Welsh, Coastal Gallery, Beaulieu Fine Arts, Chalk’s Gallery and Gordon Young
From its debut in 1999, the St Barbe Open is now firmly established as a highlight in the local arts calendar. It’s reputation for quality and variety is what keeps bring back artists and buyers year after year. Add it to your calendar and bring your friends to vote for your favourite in the ‘Chalk’s Gallery People’s Choice Award.’
