Parkinson's UK New Forest Branch Coffee Morning at Otter Garden Centre
Mon
Dec 8
All people affected by Parkinson's and their Carers, family and friends are invited to come along and join our coffee morning from 10.30am at Otter Nurseries, Milford Road, Efford, Lymington, SO41 0JD. We hold our monthly Coffee Mornings on the second Monday of every month starting at 10.30am, usually at a local Garden Centre. Please feel free to come along and join us - it is an opportunity to meet up with others to chat, swop ideas and pickup valuable tips, amongst other things!
Whether you have had Parkinson's for some time, of it you have recently been diagnosed with Parkinson's you will find a warm welcome at the Parkinson's UK New Forest Branch Support Group. Our regular meetings are held on the third Thursday of each month, except December, from 2.00pm at the Boldre War Memorial Hall in Pilley Street, Boldre, Lymington, SO41 5QG.
The format for the meetings is normally a main speaker on an interesting variety of subjects, not always Parkinson's related. This is usually followed by a question and answer session and then the all important tea and biscuits - and maybe cakes! We also have some very popular regular events such as our Summer Garden Party, Summer Concert, Christmas Lunch and occasional trips on the water!
Our local Parkinson's Nurses sometimes attend our meetings - a chance to catch up on any new developments or to ask any questions about treatment.
Apart from our Afternoon Teas and Coffee Mornings we run a Parkinson's Exercise Class every Tuesday morning at 10.30am, also at the Boldre War Memorial Hall. This is a fun chair-based exercise class with the emphasis on functional fitness, followed by coffee, biscuits and chat! The classes cost £3 (Carers free).
We have just started a new venture - a 'Parkinson's Friendly' Cinema Club! Each month there will be a 'Parkinson's Friendly' cinema showing at the Malt Cinema in the Lymington Centre which is open to all Parkinson's people and their Carers, family and friends. The Centre has disabled facilities throughout and there is room for wheelchairs. The doors will open well before the showing starts and the film will only begin when everyone is seated. Sweets, ice creams, drinks and extra cushions for your comfort are all available. Tickets can be obtained online, by phone or in the Centre's Reception, either in advance or on the day. Tickets are £6 per person for the film or £14 per person for the film and a buffet lunch. Details of these showings are available from our contact details below or from the Lymington Centre - 01590 672337 or on their website https://lymingtoncommunity.com/
You are very welcome to just come along and join us in any of our activities or you can contact us for more information - ring: 07595 927 299 or e-mail:
