It's Picnic Time!
'Pinch, punch, first of the month'...'white rabbits' and 'no returns'! Does anybody still say these things? (Click here for why we did!) August also used to be known as the 'silly season', a period in the summer months known for frivolous news stories in the mass media. In today's climate though there is always serious news - and many more media to impart it!
Anyway, first a big apology from me for erroneous date information in last week's newsletter. This weekend's Picnic in the Park complete with Car Show, Ferret Racing, Live Music, Skate Jam, Craft Stalls, Fun Sports Day Races and Fun Dog Show is on SUNDAY. It starts at 11am and the activities and entertainments run right through to 4pm. Entry and parking are free, all expenditure is optional! Explore the full day's programme here. And then roll up everyone with your blankets and baskets, for a fabulous family day out!
Explore Your Outdoors!
The Countryside Education Trust (CET) is this year celebrating its 50th Anniversary since it established its mission to 'connect people with the countryside'. Since 1975 it has been providing an introduction to many who wouldn't otherwise have had the opportunity, to the wonders of the British countryside, rural life and farming. Their national curriculum-based modules are tailored to the needs of each and every school whose pupils visit their farm and connected lands in Beaulieu.
Next Thursday 7 August between 10am and 3pm CET extends a special summer holidays invitation to Explore Your Outdoors. Its woodland site at Beaulieu will be transformed as lots of different activities will be set up to try. These include archery, climbing, BattleZone laser tag, pond dipping, pony walks, trailer rides, shelter building and more! Entry is free as is parking, then each free entry ticket comes with 3 free activity tickets, with additional activities no more than £5 each which can be purchased throughout the day. Free activities on the day include: meet the sheep; tug of war; bird watching and woodland trail. Explore Your Outdoors!
At Large, Out & About - and More!
St Barbe Museum & Art Gallery is 'At Large' and 'Out & About', and also celebrating its current exhibition: !іViva México! A range of drop in indoor and outdoor craft activity sessions for all ages from 3 upwards will take place during August, starting today with Mexican Paper Flowers:

These are lovely opportunities to get get creative in the sunshine, with materials and inspiration provided. Children can stick, cut, glue and colour to their hearts content! All kindly sponsored by Beaulieu Beaufort Foundation.
Also every Thursday at St Barbe there's Arriba! Let’s Go! drop-in family craft sessions based on the current !іViva México! exhibition.
And on 8 August at 2pm families are invited to the Treasure Island Summer Panto, an immersive and interactive family show!
In Other News...
This weekend - which after the deluges yesterday looks promising on the weather front - is also Beaulieu Supercar Weekend!
And now read on for an important autumn opportunity for by then exhausted and be-fuddled souls!

Embrace the Season of Change, with Autumn's Full Moons!
SenSpa Autumn Sound Sessions: Moon Magic & Chakra Healing
The heather has already turned a rich purple and the blackberries are ripening! This month's feature from Careys Manor looks ahead to autumn - and a very special opportunity to pause, reset, and reconnect, with this year's series of Sen Sound Sessions at SenSpa.
If you've already tried a Sen Sound Session (in which case you're probably already addicted!) you'll know that you hear the sounds both above and below the surface of the water. The combination creates a cocoon of calm - into which you don't of course sink, but do kind of 'sink' - aka relax and settle.
This autumn's sessions take on a new dimension, by aligning with the phases of the moon and focusing on different chakra energies.
The Harvest Moon in September is the final full moon before the autumn equinox and represents stability, security, and reconnecting with the Earth. The first session focuses on the Root Chakra which is our energetic foundation. It will help us feel anchored and supported, as we transition into the darker months.
October's Hunter’s Moon carries an energy of release - of letting go of what no longer serves us. This second session works with the Sacral Chakra, the centre of creativity and flow, and invites us to tune into our emotional bodies - our feelings, intuition, and sensuality.
And finally November's Beaver Moon is associated with determination, focus, and the power to see things through; a time to reconnect with our inner strength. This session centres on the Solar Plexus Chakra - our source of confidence and willpower.

Spaces are limited and these evenings are popular: if you're tempted, book early! Meanwhile there's a special offer running right now at SenSpa of 10% off - use the Promo Code SUMMER when you book!
