The atmosphere at last week’s New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards was buzzing and the stories of the finalists at 2019 New Forest Brilliance in Business Awards inspirational. In our book all the finalists are "winners" too - it takes a lot to get there.
Over 150 people representing a wide range of businesses and organisations across the New Forest had gathered to anticipate, celebrate and congratulate them at the fourteenth annual awards on Thursday 28 November 2019, this year for the first time in the splendid surroundings of the National Motor Museum, Beaulieu.
Matthew Lawson, Chairman of the New Forest Business Partnership began the formal proceedings with an upbeat and positive review of and prognosis for the New Forest business scene.
Podiatrist and business owner and champion of exemplary customer service Hilary Nossiter of Forest Foot and Health then told her own inspirational story and how winning Business of the Year last year made such a difference to her business during the following 12 months and how customers and staff have helped her take the business to another new level.
30 inspiring stories of business determination and dedication
Each of the 30 finalists in the ten categories had an inspiring story to tell and made for a really interesting and uplifting awards presentation as each category was announced, the respective finalist story told then the category winner announced and the award presented by the category sponsor.

Recognising the value of developing and nurturing staff talent to achieve ambitious growth plans earned long established family owned Brockenhurst-based Balmer Lawn Hotel not only the Training and Development category but ultimately the pinnacle of the night: New Forest Business of the Year.
Having witnessed the transformation of this long established and locally much loved hotel over the last 5 whilst promoting and championing it on these pages we are particularly delighted for General Manager Michael Clitheroe and his team who had helped to win it, many of whom were present and from whom shrieks of joy erupted on hearing that they’d won the biggest Award of the night! Michael said: “The hotel has undergone a huge transformation over the last five years both as a local and regional business and fantastic industry leading employer. I’m very proud to receive this award in recognition of an incredible team’s achievement." More here about the Balmer Lawn story.
