Shorefield Holidays welcomes volunteers to annual beach clean

Milford on Sea beach clean just one element of Shorefield's environmental mission to reduce plastic.

Shorefield Holidays staff and locals join the beach clean at Milford on SeaVolunteers turned out in force to help with the second Milford-on-Sea beach clean organised by family-run holiday park business Shorefield Holidays.

Shorefield staff, holiday home owners and local residents met at the beach on Tuesday 23 July to clear the shoreline of rubbish and plastic in an effort to help local marine life – even popular park mascot Woof the Dog joined in to help clean the dog-friendly beach!

The company, which has eight parks across Hampshire and Dorset, is keen to help protect the stunning local coastline.

Jade from Housekeeping and Nicole from the Entertainment Team Shorefield Holidays Simon Pollock, Chairman and Managing Director at Shorefield Holidays, says: “We were so pleased to see so many people helping to clean our beautiful local beach for the second year running.

“This is a great way to demonstrate our support for the global fight against plastic pollution in our oceans, and in just over an hour we cleared the shoreline of an assortment of discarded lids, broken glass, plastic cups and other rubbish.”

Shorefield Holidays is not only helping to keep its local beach clean, it’s also reducing the plastic used across its parks by swapping plastic straws for biodegradable versions, using paper cups in the gyms, and offering reusuable bags for life in on-site shops.

The company recycles 23% of all park waste, as well as an impressive 230 tonnes of glass each year.

The beach clean was organised in conjunction with Surfers Against Sewage, an environmental charity focused on tackling plastic pollution to protect oceans, beaches and wildlife.
