The New Forest area boasts so many glorious venues, here are some of our favourites...
Montagu Arms Hotel - perfect for intimate weddings
Situated in the picturesque village of Beaulieu in the heart of the New Forest, this romantic country house dating back to the 17th century is the perfect setting for an intimate, luxurious wedding. The building is full of original features, such as beautiful dark beams, oak flooring, old brick fireplaces and paneled rooms, whilst outside are charming English gardens - the perfect backdrop for your wedding photos.
The Montagu Arms is renowed for its world class cuisine, set to continue with newly appointed head chef, Matthew Whitfield previously from the three-Michelin-Star Eleven Madison Park in New York (currently ranked fourth in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list).
Licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 90 guests, the Montagu Arms can accommodate up to 90 people for your wedding breakfast and 150 guests for your evening reception. Wedding ceremonies and receptions can take place either in the grand Terrace Restaurant with views across the beautiful gardens or in the intimate and cosy Oakwood Room. Balmer Lawn - direct access to the New Forest
The Balmer Lawn is an iconic building and the only privately owned 4* hotel in the New Forest, surrounded by beautiful gardens, rivers, wildlife and the stunning forest itself onto which there is easy direct access (perfect for photos!) Situtated in Brockenhurst, the Balmer Lawn's Beresford restaurant has two AA Rosettes, reflecting the high standard of service throughout the hotel.
Licensed for both civil ceremonies and civil partnerships in the garden-located Sylvan Pavilion as well as the Beaulieu Suite, the Balmer Lawn can hold up to 140 for ceremony and wedding breakfast and up to 220 for the evening. The Beaulieu Suite includes use of a whole wing of the hotel, separated from the main hotel facilities and guests. You will have your own entrance, bar and bathroom facilities, which are privately yours for the day. Each of the three beautifully decorated rooms have their own outdoor terrace/garden.
For more intimate weddings, the Savernake Suite is a beautiful light and airy room, with floor to ceiling windows lining the main room opening onto a gorgeous decked terrace, where you could host your drinks reception. Designed for up to 58 guests seated for your ceremony and up to 75 for evening reception, the Suite has a further 2 interconnecting rooms where you could have a photo both, your private bar or simply a children’s area.
Chewton Glen - 5 star luxury just a stroll from the beach
Chewton Glen is set in 130 acres of picturesque English countryside on the edge of the New Forest, just a stroll away from the beach. This award-winning 5 Red Star Hotel is recognised as one of the finest luxury wedding venues in Hampshire and can accommodate up to 140 guests for a wedding banquet and 200 for a wedding ceremony or drinks reception. Licensed for civil ceremonies, vows can be taken within the intimacy and comfort of one of the private lounges or outside in the beautiful Walled Garden. Exclusive use, bespoke service and also a range of inclusive price packages are available, along with luxury pamper packages to prepare you for your big day.
The Marryat Suite (up to 20 guests), the master suite of the main house, has a luxurious lounge with a large private terrace and magnificent views of the grounds. The Morning Room (up to 80 guests) is flooded with natural daylight and enjoys glorious views of the croquet lawn. The Summer House (up to 100 guests) is a stunning conservatory with views overlooking the glen estate. The Lake Suite (up to 150 guests) has its own private entrance and terrace overlooking the magnificent gardens and parkland.
For more intimate ceremonies, the Treehouse Hideaway Suite is the perfect location for just the two of you with up to 10 guests, nestled in a secluded and romantic woodland valley.
Careys Manor - tie the knot outdoors in style!
Careys Manor in Brockenhurst is a romantic Victorian country house hotel offering a delightful blend of traditional English charm and character with contemporary elegance. Delicious cuisine, excellent service and quintessentially English gardens combine to make the perfect wedding.
Licensed for civil ceremonies for up to 100 guests, Careys Manor can accommodate up to 150 guests for your evening reception. Holding only one wedding a day, the team at Careys Manor ensure their undivided attention is on you and your guests, making sure your day is one to remember and cherish forever. One of only a few Hampshire hotels licensed for outdoor wedding ceremonies; the Cedar Garden can accommodate up to 100 guests and is the perfect complement to your manor house wedding. Depending on your chosen wedding package there is also the Cedar Suite, Lounge and the Beech Room readily available.
For winter weddings enjoy roaring open fires and mulled wine in a comfortable and romantic atmosphere, whilst in Summer, party outdoors with a festival style wedding package set in 10 acres of private field. More information about weddings at Careys Manor Hotel.
Rhinefield House Hotel - a fairytale in the New Forest
Hidden up an enchanting driveway framed by Canadian redwood, copper beeches and rhododendrons, Rhinefield House is straight out of a fairytale. The magnificent 19th century mansion is a mixture of Tudor and Gothic architecture with redbrick chimneys and romantic mullioned windows. Extensive grounds and ornamental ponds provide a stunning backdrop for photographs.
The magnificent Grand Hall is a replica of London’s Westminster Hall with a huge feature fireplace, ornate carvings, oak panelling and impressive leaded windows overlooking manicured lawns. The Grand Hall is licensed for civil ceremonies (110 seated guests plus 20 standing), can seat 130 for wedding breakfast (plus 30
seated in the Gallery) and house 200 for evening reception.
Modern event suite 'Hurst Castle' is also licensed for civil ceremonies (100 seated guests plus 20 standing) and can seat 120 for wedding breakfast, whilst the Keepers Room is perfect for more relaxed and intimate gatherings of up to 35 (ceremony, 30 seated breakfast). Meanwhile the stunning gardens provide the perfect backdrop for an ourdoor civil ceremony at the Doric Temple (130 seated). Rhinefield offers a range of wedding packages, 50 stylish and contemporary bedrooms and also exclusive use.
Lime Wood - laid back luxury
Set in the heart of the New Forest near Lyndhurst, Lime Wood is the ideal party venue. Relaxing, fun and intimate, Lime Wood is available as an exclusive use venue for a wedding celebration. Licensed for civil ceremonies, Lime Wood is available for weddings Monday to Thursday, perfect for a bespoke celebration.
Lime Wood is licensed for up to 110 guests for a ceremony and up to 130 guests for the wedding breakfast with a marquee extension (80 guests for wedding breakfast without marquee extension).
The hotel’s relaxed and stylish Italian restaurant, Hartnett Holder & Co, will prepare your wedding breakfast. Angela Hartnett and Luke Holder’s food comes with the much loved Italian approach to eating - where sharing and provenance is everything. The style is chefs’ home-cooked food not chefs’ food cooked for restaurants. Both Angela and Luke are famed for their informal, grounded style of cooking and their respect for local produce.
New Park Manor - perfect for small family weddings
Once the favourite hunting lodge of King Charles II and set the heart of the beautiful new forest between Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst, New Park Manor is a luxury family hotel and perfect when you need to ensure the whole family has a wonderful time.
New Park Manor offers a range of simple daytime packages to make planning your wedding day as easy and stress free as possible, catering for up to 45 guests. If you would like to use the hotel exclusively (including all 25 bedrooms), an evening reception with evening buffet is possible.
For your wedding ceremony choose between the charming stag restaurant with the coat of arms above the fire place overlooking the gardens and outdoor pool or the simpler cinema room with huge sliding doors opening onto the garden and patio area with breath taking views over the forest.
South Lawn Hotel - country house charm in Milford on Sea
Formerly a country house, South Lawn Hotel occupies a beautiful countryside setting with large peaceful grounds in Milford on Sea just 10 minutes from Lymington.
Licensed to host both civil ceremonies and civil partnerships, South Lawn Hotel's Cornwallis Suite is a large banqueting facility which is ideally suited for weddings, with an adjoining private bar and french windows leading out to the terrace and gardens. There is capacity for ceremonies for up to 110 guests and for standing receptions up to 175.
The hotel's 'Amazing Wedding Package' is available on remaining dates for 2019 and 2020 and includes: three course seated meal with wine and coffee, fizz for the speeches, a Master of Ceremonies, two-tier wedding cake, bridal bedroom and use of the banqueting suite for your evening party. Make your day even more special with a range of extras such as arrival drinks and nibbles and evening buffet.
Stanwell House Hotel - boutique luxury in the centre of Lymington
You will find picturesque English gardens and an array of wedding options to choose from at this special venue in the heart of Lymington. Stanwell House Hotel is licenced for civil marriages and the ceremony can take place in the Conservatory, a bright and elegant room with old York stone flags and stylish rattan furniture. Weather dependent the pavilion is a beautiful option for an outdoor ceremony in the pretty garden.
Stanwell House can cater for any number of guests from a small and intimate gathering to a wedding breakfast of 80 and an evening reception up to 150 guests. Although a number of packages are available, the hotel prides itself on a unique and bespoke approach to weddings, exclusive hire of the hotel is available on request and a dedicated wedding planner will work with you to create your dream day.
Head chef Matt Noonan will share a variety of dining options, from finger buffets to an exotic banquet. Stanwell House has previously catered for: haggis feasts, barbeques, glamorous fish and chips, seafood banquets, champagne and sushi and of course traditional English fayre. Overlooking the terrace and just moments walk down to the hotel gardens the restaurant Etain is perfect for your wedding breakfast.
Pylewell Park - Solent views a stone's throw from Lymington
Weddings at Pylewell Park have the luxury of complete exclusivity set on a 1500 acre estate with 27 acres of rambling house gardens, a 15 acre lake and private beach. A brand new Pylewell Pavilion has been built adjacent to the main house offering panoramic views across the Solent and sit down for up to 200 guests or 300 standing.
The pavilion includes a bar, dancefloor and floor to ceiling glass panels overlooking the Solent. Bespoke antiqued trestle tables and oak cross back chairs have been made for Pylewell to offer a unique, elegant space complimented by private terrace, lawn and ha-ha overlooking the South Park.
The venue is licensed for ceremonies and St Mary's Church is just a quarter of a mile from the end of the drive. The park is available for glamping areas to be set up too, providing ideal accommodation for guests.
The Bell Inn - rustic charm in the New Forest
The Bell Inn is an 18th century coaching inn nestled in the depths of the New Forest, surrounded by roaming ponies, pigs and picture-perfect thatched cottages. The Inn looks glorious at any time of year; charm and character never go out of style!
This four-star AA Inn is an authentic Grade II listed building boasting age-old rustic charm with flagstone floors, large open fireplaces and beamed reception rooms, humbly mixed with countrified-chic trimmings – a respectful, flat-capped nod to the old, as well as the new. The Bell Inn loves to welcome and spoil visitors like an old friend, offering genuine hospitality, real ale and seriously good food - the inn has one AA rosette recognition.
The Bell Inn is licensed for civil partnerships in two rooms, giving you a choice of where to say ‘I do’! Both of these spaces are ideal for a more intimate wedding and you can even choose to have the privacy of your own Inn for the day with the exclusively yours package, enabling you to use all 28 bedrooms. Whether your big day is a small, private affair or a large, lavish party with a marquee in the garden for al fresco celebrations, the Bell Inn has the versatility to provide the big day you are hoping for.
Beaulieu - wed at Palace House, the Domus or even the National Motor Museum!
And now for something completely different! Beaulieu's National Motor Museum may not be the first place that springs to mind when you think of wedding venues, but it certainly does provide something rather unique! Venues at Beaulieu include the historic Beaulieu Abbey Domus with its barn-like features, Palace House the home of the Montagu family or the famous National Motor Museum - these are all licensed for civil ceremonies. Those hoping for a church wedding can contact the neighbouring Beaulieu Abbey Church once the Choir Monks' Refectory and now Beaulieu's Parish Church.
Larger wedding parties of between 300 and 3000 guests also have the option of a marque themed to create a unique atmosphere. The idyllic surroundings of the New Forest and tranquil Beaulieu River create a unique setting. Menus offer delicious, fresh, seasonal choices, created and prepared by the Beaulieu head chef.
The Treehouses at the Countryside Education Trust - exclusive woodland charm
The Countryside Education Trust in Beaulieu has special permission for 12 weddings a year at their Treehouses. This unique venue is surrounded by private mixed woodland and naturally is beautiful in every season.
The turreted Treehouses nestle in the trees, with a rope bridge connecting them. The ancient woods are lovely throughout the year, under-carpeted with flowers in spring, glorious in the autumn. There are ponds and a beautiful native wildflower meadow. And for historical overtones, there is a cob cottage, built in the traditional manner. All in all the treehouses present a beautiful rustic backdrop for a charming country wedding.
The larger treehouse can seat up to 100 guests, the smaller 80. Every couple brings their own unique interpretation to their special day, from Retro to Classic Country to Robin Hood!
The Lymington Centre - simple but effective!
Five rooms at Lymington's Community Centre are now licensed for the conducting of weddings & civil partnerships. The largest is the Fuller McLellan Hall, which also includes the garden for photographs and drinks after the ceremony. The Robert Hole room can seat up to 100 and has a small kitchenette from where drinks can be served after the ceremony.
With a stage and tiered seating for 91 people, the Malt Hall Theatre provides the perfect backdrop for a unique wedding. James Bond, 1950’s, Fairytale wedding are just a few of the themes that would work so well here. With doors leading out to the Common Room Garden you are welcome to serve your guests with a glass of champagne whilst your photographer takes some amazing pictures.
The light and airy Wellington room seats up to 120 and is equipped with a grand piano. It also has a kitchenette, ideal for drinks after the ceremony.
If you are looking for a smaller intimate ceremony the Beagley room seats up to 14 people. Leading out on to the New Street Courtyard Garden you can celebrate with a glass of bubbly. The nearby Common Room seats 40 guests would be ideal for a reception, with doors lead out to the enclosed Garden.
