Tops Day Nurseries speak out about their plans in Lymington.
Tops Day Nurseries will be opening their latest nursery in the All Saints Church Hall in Lymington from 1st September 2016.
The flexible childcare provider currently has 17 day nurseries across Dorset, Hampshire and Somerset, offering childcare to over 2,000 families. Despite being a large family of nurseries, each setting has the benefit of experienced members of staff focused on building relationships with their own local community, while having the support network that comes from a dedicated Operations and Managerial team.
Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director for Tops Day Nurseries, commented on the opening, “The beautiful All Saints Church has been open to change for a number of years. A variety of options were considered including developing social housing, a restaurant, convenience store or homeless shelter, but instead we will be bringing a much needed childcare setting for the area, open for 52 weeks of the year therefore assisting with local families to return to work should they wish or need to. Initially, and at least for the next 12 months, we will only be a small nursery in the Church Hall welcoming 18 month to 4 year olds.
We will be open Monday to Friday while still supporting local community events that have previously been held on Saturdays. Our manager at Tops Lymington All Saints, Laura Doe, was born and raised in the area, attending Lymington Infant and Junior schools before going to Priestlands. Laura is therefore well aware of the closeness of the community spirit in the area and will always hold this as a priority when choosing her activities in the nursery.”
When asked about neighbours concerns regarding traffic and noise pollution, Cheryl replied, “We do not require our parents to book either all day, morning or afternoon sessions which is the cause of a large number of parents arriving or leaving at the same time. Instead they can book to the nearest 15 minutes for the hours they need, so there is likely to be staggered arrival and leaving times during the hours of 7am – 7pm; the hours we are proposing to be open. We have not yet had a complaint from our neighbours in our other nurseries in 26 years and this is something we are keen to uphold. Careful consideration is ongoing as to play areas for the children and all our plans have been approved by Ofsted, who visited the nursery on 21st April 2016.”
Cheryl concludes, “We fully appreciate that the change has been faced with some resistance, but I would like to reassure the Lymington residents that we are keen to work with them, not against them, in bringing a welcoming, flexible childcare facility, as well as job opportunities, to the local people.”
Tops Lymington All Saints will be holding an Open Day at the All Saints Church Hall on Saturday 6th August for parents to meet the Tops team, to discuss arrangements for the nursery and be given the opportunity to view the setting.
