Lime Wood New Forest celebrates International Women’s Day

Inspirational thoughts for individuals and organisations alike

Social enterprise companies Belu Water, Rubies in the Rubble and From Babies with Love all led by women are striving to make a difference in a troubled world whilst also making healthy profits. They serve as fantastic examples of how businesses can lead the way in many directions.

Lime Wood organised and hosted a superb evening for members of its Herb House Spa and other locals.

Karen Lynch, Jenny Costa and Cecilia Crossley at Lime Wood on International Women's DayFirst there were fizz and delicious non alcoholic cocktails accompanied by delicious canapés, and lots of interesting chat as the guests (mainly ladies but including a couple of brave gentlemen too) mingled in the lovely atmosphere of Lime Wood.

Then, what positive and thought provoking tales were recounted by three powerful and brilliant yet also delightful and charming CEO’s and industry leaders at Lime Wood to celebrate International Women’s Day! And what an uplifting and refreshingly honest, jargon free discussion between speakers and audience filled the room.

The ingredients for the success of Social Enterprise businesses Belu Water, Rubies in the Rubble and From Babies with Love led respectively by Karen Lynch, Jenny Costa and Cecilia Crossley seem to hinge on passion, purpose, honesty and balance. Who in right mind would gainsay those principles and how wonderful would it be to have more of those actually making progress in government and other vital places.

The aim of International Women's Day is to provide a focus on helping nations worldwide eliminate discrimination against women. It also focuses on helping women gain full and equal participation in global development.

Belu water and delicious Lime Wood canapesKaren Lynch - CEO of Belu Water

The former Barclays Executive has transformed Belu into a thriving company with a sustainable model that is 100% funded through trading revenue, debt free, and fast approaching £6m turnover. Belu offers the most ethical choice in water service, including bottled mineral water and filtration. The ethical business and pioneering social enterprise has given over £3million to WaterAid, providing access to clean water, decent toilets and good hygiene.

Jenny Costa – Founder of Rubies in the Rubble

Set up in 2011, Rubies in the Rubble saves surplus fruit and vegetable produce from the rubbish heap by turning it into delicious jams, relishes, chutneys, ketchups and other condiments. An award-winning, sustainable food brand known for making great tasting condiments with a conscience.

Cecilia Crossley – Founder of From Babies with Love

From Babies with Love is the baby brand that donates 100% of its profits to SOS Children to help abandoned children around the world and towards generating a new source of income to support over 4,600 vulnerable children via helping their mothers.

All three had amazing stories to tell, presented entertainingly with skill, and had everybody's attention from start to finish.

Goody bags and positivity, purpose and passion!

Every participant left with a very gorgeous bag of goodies provided by Lime Wood’s Herb House and each of the speakers, but the most important take away by far was the uplift in positivity to bring more purpose and passion into our own lives – who knows what might be possible! The only downside was that it was dark and wet so the surroundings could not fully be appreciated!
