Lymington's Bath Race is back on Lymington River this year
Sunday 29th July 2018 - earlier than usual too...
The annual Lymington Town Sailing Club Bath Race is taking place on Sunday 29th July 2018 and “teams are already signing up for the best fun ever to be had in a bathtub” according to LTSC Commodore Chris Barr.
The Bath Race has become a regular fixture in Lymington’s summer season and attracts large crowds of local residents and visitors.
It usually takes place later in August but the decision has been made to bring it forward this year.
And after several years at the Seawater Baths the Race is moving back on to Lymington River, which will make it more accessible and free to view, for its enthusiastic supporters and spectators.
With the support of Colten Care
This year’s Bath Race Organiser is the Manager of Colten Care’s Belmore Lodge in Lymington Janie Pearman, whose LTSC membership is sponsored by Colten Care.
Janie’s enormous, loving and giving personality and powers of persuasion in turn bring benefits to the sailing club.
And in fact, Colten Care’s Belmore Lodge “Baths” have won the Bath Race for the past 2 years and its residents in Janie’s charge have been very much involved and engaged with design and costumes. Many of the residents will also go along on the day to cheer their teams on.
Living in a care home can enrich later life!
It’s yet another example following last weekend’s Carnival, of how people living in a quality care home can still get involved in and have fun with community initiatives. Previous loneliness banished, a whole new set of friends, and real participation in locals goings on including "on the water".
About the Bath Race
The Lymington Town Sailing Club Bath Race is open to all including a children’s race for the under 12’s. The Club has a number of baths it can lend teams to get them started.
As Janie says: “You can enter your own creation or even borrow a bath from the Club. If you are interested in using one of our baths just pick it up at the Club house on Bath Road before 4pm on Friday 27th July. It’s huge fun and, thanks to the generosity of spectators, we’re able to raise money for a local charity in the process. We award small prizes for everything from the Best Dressed Bath to the highly coveted Golden Bath for the overall winner. So be as creative as you can.”
Lymington Town Sailing Club Open Day
At the same time, Lymington Town Sailing Club is holding an Open Day and will be open for visitors who are interested in learning more about the Club and our activities on and off the water.
