Essential oils chocolate-making. 7 Dec

Food and Drink Events
Date: Saturday, 07 December 10:30

Venue: The Natural Health Hub

Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without chocolate. But don’t you just get bored rotten with Ferrero Rocher, Cadbury’s Roses and After Eights! And doesn’t your body just feel clogged and sluggish with all the sweetness and E-numbers! Well, we’ve got a Hub alternative for you… of course. Juanita Duffin is offering raw chocolate-making classes on Saturday 7 December

Raw chocolate flavoured with DoTerra lime essential oil

And this is not just any standard raw chocolate – Juanita has literally cooked up chocolate with a twist… it’s flavoured with DoTerra oils, the pinnacle of essential oils for quality. Flavours will include peppermint, wild orange, lemon and lime. Come and make some deliciously individual Christmas chocolates for friends and family. A great stocking filler… well, if they last that long!

Benefits of raw chocolate

Mass-produced chocolates are rich in indulgence whereas raw chocolate is exactly as its name suggests: unadulterated and pure. It is called raw because, rather than roasting the cacao, the chocolate is processed at lower temperatures, thereby retaining far more nutrients and goodness. Ideal for those who are lactose intolerant and those who are discerning about their chocolate, raw chocolate also has many benefits that are destroyed by the high temperatures used to produce your Cadbury’s Roses:

  • High in flavonoids Cacao contains flavonoids, antioxidant compounds that are said to protect against cell damage caused by free-radicals. The flavonoids found in cacao are called flavonols and research has found they are especially beneficial with regard to blood flow, so it is suggested they can help your blood pressure and promote normal blood clotting function.
  • Rich in minerals Raw chocolate is also high in minerals such as iron, magnesium and manganese which help to sustain energy levels and protect cells.

We’re not saying raw chocolate should be treated as one of your five a day! But eating chocolate in this form is certainly cleaner for the system – plus with the DoTerra oil flavouring, you’re getting the added goodness of the essential oils.

Date: 7 December, 10.30am-12 noon or 12.30-2pm

Cost: £20, including recipe cards so you can make the chocolates at home yourself
