Christmas is a time of celebration and reflection; we would like to invite you to celebrate the memory of someone special by dedicating a light on the Oakhaven Tree of Remembrance.

We look forward to welcoming to you Monday 2nd December at either 3pm or 6pm at St Thomas Church in Lymington, where we will hold a service of remembrance and thanksgiving for those who are no longer with us. Following the 3pm service we invite you to join us for drinks and mince pies in the Church Hall. After the 6pm service there will be a short street procession (so wrap up warm) to Moore Blatch where you will be offered mulled wine and mince pies before the Mayor officially switches on the lights.

We do hope that you are able to join us at these unique services, where those who were special to you will be remembered and honoured. Our Light up a Life event is for everyone who wishes to dedicate a light to the life and love of family members and loved ones.

Oakhaven Hospice Trust

Oakhaven Hospice Trust provides palliative care and support for patients and families both in the hospice and at home, in the New Forest, Totton and Waterside areas. Oakhaven Hospice provides amazing support, comfort and and outstanding care to the New Forest community: to those who face death from illness which can strike cruelly at any time of life, seemingly indiscriminately picking not just on the elderly but also the very young and people in their prime.

All care offered to patients is provided free. Many people know that only a small percentage of Oakhaven’s running costs are paid for by government funding, that it relies for all the rest on its fundraising activities and charity shops.

Yet whilst the sums involved are enormous, Oakhaven’s high local profile tends to lull people into the assumption that the fundraised funds always flow. The reality is an enormous challenge to maintain this wonderful facility for our community, and it’s only thanks to a veritable army of volunteers that it continues to do so.

Every penny counts, because every moment matters.
