Gardeners have always been keen students of the weather, but how might climate change affect them?
This course will look at the challenges climate change presents to gardeners and ways we can adapt our gardening style to suit the new conditions.
Topics covered include:
Changing Places: The British climate and how it is likely to respond to increased atmospheric CO2 and other greenhouse gases.
Boom and Bust: managing drought and excessive rainfall in your garden
That Sinking Feeling: how to store carbon in your garden soil
Contain Yourself – managing pots and tubs effectively
Warm Welcome – attracting native pollinators and other wildlife to your garden as the climate heats up
A mix of theoretical and practical sessions, making use of the CET’s garden and farm.
Please come prepared for indoor and outdoor activities during the day.
Tea/coffee provided but you will need to bring a packed lunch.
