‘Place‘ is an exhibition of art works by Rebecca Galbraith and Paul J Best that will be running at the Spudworks Gallery (formerly Artsway) at Station Road, Sway, Near Lymington, Hampshire  from 21st September until 28th September 2019.

The exhibition will feature original paintings and prints inspired by perceptions of the nature and importance of Place

Rebecca is an artist and architect who is particularly inspired by landscape and the unique qualities of places. Rebecca is interested in texture in painting and her painting are often influenced by materials that can be found on site. Out of this very man made products. Rebecca tries to reflect a natural landscape, often moody skiess and spluttery seas.

Rebecca is part of the Yard Studios in Winchester. They are a collective of 20 artists that work in an old cow shed near the river Itchen. The studio is a melting pot of technique and ideas. Rebecca takes part in Hampshire Open Studios every year but this is Rebecca’s first show!

Paul is an artist and landscape architect. He is particularly drawn to painting landscapes and his work focuses on expressing the qualities of place, often reflecting environmental themes which become symbolic elements.

Paul is particularly pleased to be exhibiting his work at the Spudworks Gallery. Paul is an Associate of spud and keen supporter of the aims of the spud charity a world leader in developing collaborations involving art, architecture and education.

Spud is committed to promoting quality design and increasing engagement for people of all ages in understanding and influencing the nature and quality of the places where they live.

In recent years Paul has extended his passion for painting and his paintings are now held in collections across the United Kingdom as well as in America, Switzerland and Australia and he is selling works on line and through a number of Hampshire based Art Galleries and shops.

Paul creates his paintings in acrylic, oil and resin paints with the distinctive incorporation of reflective paints and gold leaf to capture and reflect light in the works. The effect created changes at different times of day with the changing light conditions. His paintings are often heavily textured incorporating gels, pastes and materials gathered from specific places.
