Tracey Underhill-Law invites you to our Death Café, a monthly opportunity to meet up, have some cake and tea, and chat informally with others about death

Death is everybody’s business

The notion of hosting Death Cafés started some years ago and has blossomed into a worldwide movement of gatherings: http://deathcafe.com. At a Death Café people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. The objective is:

to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives‘.

A Death Café is an agenda-free group with no objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session, with the topics determined by attendees. Death Café is a place to wonder together about the mystery and meaning of life and to discuss death comfortably and openly, a free-wheeling, self-facilitated conversation around death and dying, inevitably touching upon life and living.

I have become interested in facilitating discussion of death after completing several workshops focusing on death and dying and end-of-life accompaniment. Enabling discussion is a first step in preparing ourselves for this inevitable journey.

This month our Death Café 14 June, 3.15pm. We ask for a £3 donation for tea and cake. I look forward to welcoming you into lively conversation and debate.
