A Wide Range of Music Concerts at Beaulieu Abbey Church

MUSIC AT BEAULIEU

Good music from classical to jazz in the wonderfully evocative setting of Beaulieu’s 800 year-old Abbey Church, once the refectory of the Cistercian Abbey of Beaulieu, with its splendid acoustics and in the heart of the New Forest National Park.

A charitable trust, run entirely by volunteers, Music at Beaulieu arranges some 12 to 14 concerts each year, providing excellent inexpensive music from classical to jazz and offering a platform for young as well as established world-class musicians.

Music at Beaulieu is run entirely by volunteers and arranges some 12 to 14 concerts each year. Its main aims are to provide inexpensive music for those living in the local area including Lymington and other local New Forest towns and villages.  Also to provide a platform for emerging as well as established artistes, and distribute any profits towards the maintenance of the Abbey Church, the assistance of local musicians in their musical careers and musical education in the New Forest.

Ticket prices vary from £5.00 to £20.00. Tickets may be booked in advance or bought at the door. Car parking in the large church meadow is free, and with prior warning, we can arrange assistance for the disabled. Modestly priced interval refreshments are available which usually include wine.

Established almost by accident some 40 years ago with a small song recital to raise a little money for the church, Music at Beaulieu has grown from that small beginning. Now a charitable trust, run entirely by volunteers, Music at Beaulieu arranges some 12 to 14 concerts each year, providing excellent inexpensive music from classical to jazz and offering a platform for young as well as established world-class musicians.

Artistes performing at Music at Beaulieu concerts have ranged from famous musicians, such as Dame Moura Lympany and Jack Gibbons; musicians who have become famous, such as Katerina Karneus; musicians who will undoubtedly become famous, such as Chenyin Li; brilliant young performers from the Yehudi Menuhin School and the Purcell School of Music; local choral societies; the Hampshire Youth Orchestra and the Hampshire Youth Choir; jazz groups, operatic societies, finalists from the Music at Beaulieu Award competition and many other talented musicians.
