When you become a "Dementia Friend" you will learn a little of what it's like to live with dementia.
By small changes in your subsequent behaviour, you can make a real difference.
You will be able to do your small part to help people living with dementia to live better for longer in their own homes and their own community.
You don't have to know somebody with dementia, this is relevant to everybody who cares about people living with dementia, who wants Lymington to be a dementia friendly community.
One-hour Dementia Friends' information session run by Lymington Dementia Action Group volunteers
Supported by trained staff at Linden House Care Home
This is an interactive session which gives valuable insight into how it actually feels to have dementia. There's no commitment other than to spend an hour with us. But the small insight you gan may well help you to adjust your behaviour just slightly. It's then those small changes in our everyday behaviour which can make an enormous difference to how a person with dementia perceives the moment, the rest of his or her day, even his or her outlook on life!
Sessions run monthly on the last Thursday of the month, in the Training Room at Linden House Care Home, New Street, Lymington, SO41 9BP. from 6-7.30 pm. Please arrive just before 6pm ready to start promptly. Refreshments will be offered.
