An introduction to the life of the honey bee and how beekeepers manage an apiary. The day is run by the education team from New Forest and District Beekeepers Association.

The morning’s topics will include the honey bee life-cycle, how colonies are managed to keep bees happy and healthy, how the art of beekeeping has developed over millennia and the range of equipment needed in an active apiary.

In the afternoon you will visit a nearby apiary to see some working hives.

Under-18s should be accompanied by a fee-paying adult.

Tea/coffee/biscuits will be provided. Please bring a packed lunch.
