Delectable strawberries in a divine setting, a stone’s throw from Lymington
Visit Goodalls this summer! Whether you pick a glorious English summer’s day or a more typical one, you’ll discover a paradise of delectable soft fruits and seasonal vegetables and salad, plus a multitude of home made jams and other goodies concocted from the fresh produce.
Pick your own fruit and vegetables in a lovely setting, on a sunny south facing hillside where you could be anywhere in the English countryside. Yet you’re a stone’s throw from Lymington, and when you stand up to rest your back you can see Lymington River and the Isle of Wight from your privileged vantage point.
You can pick your own sweet tasting broad beans, and new this year wet garlic - which grows amongst the strawberries to mutual benefit. Then there’s raspberries, and this year also blueberries, new potatoes, cherries...
The best strawberries in the world at Goodalls?
Strawberries have been growing on Goodall land for over 100 years since Herbert Goodall started in 1912.Today Brian and Pauline have developed the business to include a wider range of fruit and vegetables and a small family run seasonal shop selling mainly home and very locally made produce.
People who take a bite of a Goodalls Strawberry reckon it’s the best they’ve ever tasted. Children love it, so do adults, and the young lovers who find it very romantic! People come from London especially to pick and buy the produce from this fabulous place.
Pick your own from 1st May! Open every day 9-5
Goodalls opens from 1st May under the poly tunnels – which is great because you can even pick in the rain! From then on it’s then open every day: 9-5, 7 days a week.
It’s all very simple: take a basket from the kiosk, fill it and bring it back to weigh. Pick your own is half the price of the fruit on the counter but that’s almost not the point, picking is the part of the pleasure!
Pick your own or buy in punnets
If you’re short of time you can buy perfect strawberries in punnets, and take your pick of the wonderful array of seasonal home grown and home made produce for sale in Pauline’s Pantry.
Pauline’s Pantry – a country kiosk full of fresh and produce home made by the Goodall family
On some days of the week you’ll find Pauline’s grandson Charlie age 11, operating his Pop Up Smoothies. In Pauline’s Pantry (part of the kiosk, new for this year) you’ll find home made scones, home made jams – and do treat yourself to the unbelievably good proper old fashioned lemonade made by grandson Sammy – growing and making produce is clearly in the genes. You’ll also get a £1.50 return if you bring your empty bottles back.
Go now while the weather’s at its glorious best and the strawberries ripening perfectly by the moment – perfect for the Wimbledon Weeks!
