New Forest National Park welcomes England

New Forest National Park welcomes England

The New Forest National Park Authority is welcoming its newest Community Ranger, Doug England, as part of a joint-funded pilot scheme with the National Trust in the north the Forest.

Doug’s main aims are to raise awareness of the Park’s special qualities, engage with local communities, visitors and landowners and encourage people to explore the Forest and get involved in volunteering schemes.

While out and about Doug will be promoting the two key purposes of the New Forest National Park Authority and will explain how National Park designation benefits the New Forest, its residents and visitors.

Doug said: ‘This role gives me a great opportunity to engage with local people and visitors to explain the roles of the New Forest National Park Authority and the National Trust, in protecting and safe-guarding the future of the New Forest.’

Saira Evans, Recreation Officer, said: ‘We’re pleased to have an officer who will be out on the ground working in partnership with local organisations, he will be a first point of contact for many people and have a day-to-day presence in the north of the Park.’

Look out for Doug around the north of the New Forest this summer.
