Did you know Fairweather's is the largest grower of Agapanthus in the UK?
And has a collection of over 300 cultivars approved as a National Collection.
Whether grown in the ground or in a container, agapanthus bloom best in full sun. Colours include bright blue but they come in many shades of blue and purple and there are some white ones too. The plants are about 2 feet tall but the flower stalks rise up above the foliage, growing to be a striking 3-4 feet high. Most Agapanthus bloom for around 6 weeks, however 'Flower of Love' has been specially bred to be much more floriferous for an incredible 10-12 weeks, starting around mid-July.
Regal and romantic. Many strong stalks are capped with clusters of open, trumpet-shaped blooms, creating spherical flower heads that almost seem to float above the strap shaped foliage.
Thick fleshy roots store fluid and nutrients to enable these low-maintenance plants to flourish in poor dry soils, whether in containers or borders. Excellent as cut flowers, lasting well in a vase.
