An idyllic break that 'won’t cost the earth!'

The Mill at Gordleton

The Mill at Gordleton - Working with its natural environment!

Escape tO A Luxury Hotel and Restaurant that Won’t Cost the Earth!

If you’re looking for an idyllic break that won’t cost the earth, The Mill at Gordleton definitely fits the bill.  Recognised for being great value for money, the restaurant and boutique hotel nestled in the heart of the New Forest works with its natural environment to make it a great place to stay.

The restaurant sources most of its meat, free range eggs, fruit and vegetables locally and grows its own herbs and some of its own vegetables.  Awarded the New Forest Marque for commitment to local produce and the environment, diners can sit by a beautiful river or enjoy private dining indoors.  The food is critically acclaimed and impeccable service comes as standard.

Boutique and unique, The Mill at Gordleton has seven individually designed rooms which range from doubles, including the balconied ‘Avon Water’ to a gorgeous suite which has been converted from the original 400 year old Mill.  Overlooking the river with the Mill stream running beneath it, it has a roomy bed and a dreamy corner spa bath.

Everything possible is recycled at The Mill at Gordleton, the garden waste is composted, and the hotel uses bulk packaging to save on unnecessary containers.  It also sells waste oil to a local green taxi company who reuse it to power their fleet of cars. The business is implementing a new sewage system which breaks down waste through air filtration, allowing it to be emptying far less frequently.  And, it already has a heat exchange unit in the base of the river on which it sits - which naturally provides at least 80% of its hot water and central water.  Furthermore, The Mill is in the planning stages of reinstating its Wheel to create electricity, with the support of the National Sustainable Trust.

The business has scooped a number of prestigious awards for its friendliness to the environment and commitment to local produce.  And, owner, Liz Cottingham recently picked up the Nat West Hera Award for ‘Businesswoman of the Year’, in recognition of operating in a sustainable way.

Readers can book a midweek break for £350.00 or a mini suite or balcony room for £385 for two night’s dinner, bed & breakfast for two people.  For further special rates, visit the website at www.themillatgordleton.co.uk or call 01590 682219.

The Mill at Gordleton is listed in Alastair Sawday’s  ‘Special Places to Stay 2009’ and also ‘The Good Hotel Guide 2009’.
