It’s a stone that we all love……..it holds significance for many people, male and female alike. It is deemed to be the most precious item that we can give to someone that we love, and its fire and brilliance light up the faces of many at Christmas time.
Every body has heard of the 4c’s and that information is on our web site: (www.buchanansoflymington.co.uk)
But our accepted idea of a diamond is that it is round. Sure we know there are other cuts that are as popular, but when asked to draw a diamond from memory, many people will draw a round stone.
Princess cut stone, marquise, heart shape, emerald cut, oval cut, trillion cut…..the list is endless. There is even a Lilly Cut stone, which as it’s name suggests, is cut in the shape of a lily.
But the wondrous thing about a diamond is not the range of shapes that it can be cut into, but the range of colours that it can be found in.
Who would have imagined a Blue Diamond, or necklace made entirely of black diamonds, or even a ring set with clear white diamonds set along side the magical colour of cinnamon diamonds.
Perhaps the most beautiful of colours though, is the yellow diamond. The picture shows a tear drop shaped yellow diamond that weighs 0.38cts. Mounted in yellow gold, which allows its colour to really stand out, it is complemented by a round brilliant cut diamond which is mounted in white gold, again to allow it’s beauty to shine.
Coloured diamonds are not a common occurrence, and in some instances man has assisted their natural beauty. Because of their rarity, they tend to be a more expensive stone to buy than their more readily available clear cousin. But once you own one, you will never want to be parted from it.
The pendant shown is in 18ct gold, hanging on an 18ct white gold snake chain, and retails for £1200. We also have round cut yellow diamonds and earrings to match!!!
