Supercar Startup, Beaulieu Motor Museum, Monday 27th August

Visitors to Beaulieu this Bank Holiday Monday, 27th August, have a treat in store with an opportunity to hear the unique melodies created by the multi-cylinder engines of a number of the National Motor Museum’s most prestigious supercars, as they are put through their start-up paces in the Beaulieu Arena.

The line up will include some of the earliest supercars in the Museum’s collection such as the 1903 Napier Gordon Bennett (the first car to wear British Racing Green), the 1909 Rolls Royce Silver Ghost and the 1930 Blower Bentley Le Mans replica. From the sixties, visitors will hear the 7.4 litre V8 Jensen Interceptor and the Cosworth DFV powered Lotus 49 F1, driven to championship glory by Graham Hill.

Bringing the line-up bang up to date are the 1988 Ferrari F40, the 1994 McLaren F1 GTR, and the 2004 V-12 Ferrari Enzo, all currently appearing the museum’s latest exhibition, ‘Autoglym Supercars’.

A further treat is an opportunity to see the North Pole conquering Toyota Hi-Lux pick-up that featured recently in the Top Gear ‘Race to the North Pole’. This fantastic and awe inspiring vehicle driven by Jeremy Clarkson and James May is the first car every to reach the magnetic North.

Supercar Start-up will take place at 12 noon and again at 4pm and can be enjoyed as part of a visit to the whole Beaulieu attraction which is open daily from 10am to 6pm. For more information visit www.beaulieu.co.uk
