The Vanilla Pod Restaurant launches new Menu for British Food Fortnight

The Vanilla Pod Café Restaurant in Lymington is inviting customers to be proud of their regional food with a special menu and promotions for British Food Fortnight, running from September 24th to October 7th.The special regional menu is available on Friday and Saturday evenings with local specialities such as Lymington caught crab salad and beef braised in Ringwood Ale. A selection of specials are also available on the regular lunch time menu.

To celebrate British Food Fortnight, The Vanilla Pod are offering three courses for the price of two on their evening menu. Instead of £15.95 for three courses, you can enjoy this celebration of local produce for only £12.95 per person.

Throughout the two week period, The Vanilla Pod will also be running tastings of local produce used on their menu, from local Hampshire cheeses to a selection of New Forest sausages.

Gary and Sarah Turner opened The Vanilla Pod last June after leaving their jobs in the wine trade to follow their dream and open a restaurant in Lymington.
Chef and proprietor Gary Turner said:

‘We source as much as possible from local producers. For example, in our breakfast we use sausages from Sway Butchers, bacon from New Forest Bacon and free range eggs from West Wellow, near Romsey. We think it makes a big difference to our customers that they know where the ingredients in our dishes come from. They know that when they buy a breakfast with us, they are not just supporting one local business but supporting several local farmers as well.’

‘With so many big chains such as Costa and Caffé Nero on the high street in Lymington, we feel encouraged that customers prefer to support local businesses rather than line the pockets of the big corporations!’

‘British Food Fortnight gives us the opportunity to celebrate the wide range and quality of regional produce available in Hampshire.’
