Simon & Mel's wonderful, eccentric mix of high quality Furniture, Home Furnishings and delightful Nic Nacs that is ENIGMA FURNISHINGS recently celebrated 10 yrs providing both Lymington and International Clients with carefully sourced original products from around the world.

I popped in the other day to hook up with Mel, contemplate the past, present and future and have a good snifty around the shop. There's no mistaking that Christmas has taken over of course and the place is awash with fabulous gifts, gorgeous decorations and of course the mainstay stock of furniture and unique pieces for the home.

Clearly the building works at Angel Courtyard where the shop is situated have been a little inconvenient, but talking to Mel about the light at the end of that particular tunnel, she is full of enthusiasm for the end result which will see Enigma amidst one of Lymington's finest shopping enclaves and perhaps with a concomitant increase in footfall to boot. Rumour has it there is a fab deli going in opposite where you'll be able to avail yourself of a cappucino before ordering your new dining suite.

It is natural I guess when we are looking to buy a significant piece of furniture like a dining set, to steer towards old faithful at West Quay...(you know where I mean!), but if you are like most of us and like to think your house is a little more original and stylish than others, then it's got to be worth a visit to a place where for the same or maybe even less, you can get hold of something truly special and outside the box. After ten years in the business, these guys really know their stuff and their huge repeat business is a testament to their expertise.

If you are thinking of tying the knot then you can have your wedding list here which many do and ensure that your first home together is chic and individual, as opposed to a clone of so many other less inspired creations.

My personal hot tip is the Mexican Chimenea's which are so much better than gas patio heaters and infinitely more cool. I also like some of the Lamps and Nests of Tables which you can find in abundance and I suppose my only frustration is that every time I visit I yearn for a larger house.

Don't wait for the courtyard to be finished, especially as the Christmas shopping opportunities are plentiful; get down there now, perhaps congratulate the guys on ten years of success and hopefully encourage them to keep Lymington as varied and exciting as it is for another ten years or more, by keeping on doing what they're doing!
