National Park Pocket Guide published

Britain’s smallest National Park is now pocket-size.  A Pocket Guide to the New Forest National Park for 2008 has been published by the National Park Authority.

The free guide will be available widely throughout the National Park at visitor centres and attractions and it is also available from the National Park’s offices and on its website.

Martin O’Neill, Director of Information and Visitor Services for the New Forest National Park Authority, said: ‘The Pocket Guide is like the National Park itself: it may appear small but there is a great deal in it.

‘In addition to essentials such as a handy map and attractive images, the guide includes tips on how to enjoy the New Forest National Park while helping to look after it,  features on what makes the National Park special and a host of fascinating facts about the Park’s landscape, people and history.’

Did you know that more than half of the New Forest National Park is of national or international importance for nature conservation, a higher proportion than in any other English National Park?  Or that woodland covers less than half of the ‘Forest’?  It’s all in the Pocket Guide.

Mr O’Neill added: ‘Whether you are a first-time visitor or a long-time resident, we hope that the Pocket Guide will spark your interest and help you to understand and enjoy the things that make the National Park special.’
