P&O Cruises - Children and teens set to rock ‘n’ roll at sea....whilst Mum's & Dad's actually have a holiday!!!
A live, loud rock band is not something normally found on board a cruise ship, but P&O Cruises younger passengers will soon be ‘rocking the boat’ at on board gigs, to covers of hits by popular bands Kaiser Chiefs, Blink 182, Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys.
This summer, children and teens on board P&O Cruises family-friendly ships Aurora, Oceana and Oriana can look forward to a jam-packed line-up of entertainment when the ships set sail from Southampton, enabling parents to relax as the kids are entertained in a dedicated area of the ship.
While the teens let their hair down, the five to eight and nine to 12 year-old age groups can learn how they can be up on stage, with a number of theatre workshops and participation performances to be hosted by children’s theatre company Katch22.
Philip Price, head of brand marketing, P&O Cruises, said the cruise line is always on the look out for new initiatives to entertain all its passengers, including the younger ones, and teens have traditionally been the company’s most demanding audience.
“We want to offer credible, targeted entertainment for teens and young adults. Teens these days are savvy and a lot more demanding, so we have tapped into current music tastes and identified this as an area we can develop to show our teens a good time on board.
“The bands that will play on board are professional gigging bands. The music is live and very loud!”
In addition, on all summer school holiday cruises there is a DJ for teenagers and a magician will perform shows for the five to eight and nine to 12 year-olds. This magician will also host two Fun Houses – involving children’s party activities - for children aged two to four and five to eight. Nine to 13 year olds will experience Close-Up Magic Shows.
A rock band performs on board Oceana on all cruises departing Southampton from July 8 to August 25. Katch22 theatre groups will be onboard Oriana on cruises departing July 9, July 21, August 6 and August 18, and Aurora on cruises departing on July 21, August 4 and August 20.
