POD... Lymington's Style Destination!

The atmosphere is welcoming, unhurried and sophisticated and the natural style is immediately apparent as you walk through the door. I have canvassed many women about Pod discretely and without exception they all come back with the same compliment; they just trust the girls to do it right. Whether that be an outfit, the interior design of a yacht/ home/ pub, a gift or a sofa, it simply is THE place to go locally if style matters to you.

This coming November POD is excited about having traded for 5 years, congratulations to Polly and her hard working team! Part of the success of the store and it’s ever increasing popularity, with customers returning time and time again, can also be attributed to the simple fact of price.  Stocking London brands, though without the London prices, POD offers its brands at lower prices than one might expect from a store of such caliber (e.g. POD currently stock a Day Birger skirt at £40 cheaper than advertised in Vogue).

We all know Lymington is changing radically and some of you will also know that here at LDC it is our mission to 'personalize the high street'. By this we mean that we want to preserve and nurture a sense of community and individuality within the town as best we can and encourage even the larger retailers to 'think locally'. Shops like Pod which, though probably awkwardly located for a while during the M&S refurbishment will soon make St Thomas Street quite a sexy little niche part of the town to the dismay of absent husbands I suspect.  I sure hope so, because as long as POD prospers there will be less room for something cloned from another high street as a statistic in a national chain's portfolio. If you are reading this and don't live in Lymington, then it is shops like Pod that make it worthwhile coming here. You can go anywhere to find a chain store, but there's only one Pod and you'll have to come here to see it, which is good for the town and in our opinion a great day out for you. (Perhaps you'll read some of our other reviews of shops, restaurants, cafe's etc. where the same uniqueness applies!)

I have to confess I was rather anxious about writing this piece for a while because having held Polly, Laura, Natasha & the rest of the team in quite high esteem I was concerned that I'd not do them justice. It took me a while to realise however, that one of the reasons Polly is so successful is because she just does it her way and that way happens to be pretty cool all round. So in that vein, this is my way of saying if you like and appreciate elegant, stylish and attractive things then get to know Polly because both her, the shop and everything they do are all that and more.
