Training grants available for Animal Transportation Certificates
Any New Forest commoner, farmer or woodland manager who transports animals commercially over a distance of 65km will need a Certificate of Competence for animal transportation from the 5 January 2008.
However, if you are taking your Certificate before 31 December 2007 you may be eligible for funding from the LEADER + Training Grant scheme to cover up to 60 per cent of your training costs and assessment.
The LEADER+ Training Grant is an easy to access scheme to help individuals and businesses who receive a direct income from the Forest or its produce, pay for training to help improve the skills needed for their job or business.
Forest Friendly Farming has already provided funding for young commoners to receiving training on how to tow large trailers, for local producers to attend courses on hurdle making and ice cream production and training on forestry machinery.
Emma Rigglesworth, Head of Sustainable Development, said: ‘Forest Friendly Farming can provide a great opportunity to make training more affordable.
‘People who earn their income from the Forest will now be able to bolster their skills and receive additional training to benefit their jobs, businesses and income.’
