Hello and a very warm welcome from Paul and Krisztina. We’ve recently taken over the old King’s Arms Pub in the heart of Lymington, on St Thomas Street not far from St Thomas Church. We’ve not been here long but we’re loving getting involved withLymington and especially our particular corner at the top of St Thomas St – and love this historic section of Lymington, which is buzzing with business today!
If you’re looking for a proper pub in Lymington, we can honestly say we’ve got it all: from a great range of cask ales, to an unpretentious but comfy bar area including a cheerful log fire, to our large, sunny south facing garden. Come and watch the footie with us – we like to have a spontaneous Pub Party when the matches are on! We can even provide free car parking at the back of the Pub, which is pretty special for the centre of Lymington. And well behaved dogs are welcome, too.
In addition and in keeping with modern Pubs we have food. And, what food!
Our amazing chef James joined us having honed his skills for some years as the chef in a well known Lymington restaurant. Thanks to James, our Pub has become a culinary destination for pub lunches and suppers. Using the best quality locally sourced fresh ingredients wherever possible to which he adds freshly picked herbs grown in our garden, James creates and serves up the most delicious daily special dishes, plus our menu of well priced “standard” classic pub food. (See our diners’ experience below!)
Yes, we have 2 lovely B&B rooms at the back of the Pub (NOT directly over the bar!). If you’re thinking of accommodation for your visitors, ask to have a look at our rooms while you’re drinking or dining with us in the Pub and we’ll be delighted to show you round. They’re smartly furnished and equipped, with ensuite shower rooms, and the 4 bed family room is really good value for a family looking for well priced accommodation.
We are in touch with the best of the upcoming and established local musicians and groups, and have made live music a real feature of Friday and Saturday evenings. So join us on the weekends for some lively fun with your friends – or come and make some new ones!
And finally our best kept secret: jazz first Sunday lunchtime of every month! Come along and join us on a Sunday.
Before sitting down to devour the most delectable dishes, we inspected the enormous stockpot bubbling on the stove, and sniffed the wonderful aroma of a proper beef stock. I am ashamed to admit I never bother with real stock these days, but soon appreciated it. For today’s lunchtime special James had produced the most delicious slow cooked pork belly with mushrooms, served with mash with spring onions and cream, in a delicious red wine sauce. My colleague enjoyed salmon in crab sauce, the other special of the day. We’re not talking traditional pub grub here but high quality, deliciously cooked proper food. And although I never normally eat a proper meal at lunchtime it was the right amount, the right balance, and left me feeling just right! Lymington.com Ed.
