A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Highcliffe Castle, Wednesday 20th June
On Wednesday 20th June Highcliffe Castle will be the backdrop for Shakespeare’s magical story A Midsummer Night’s Dream. From 7.30pm visitors can enjoy an evening of open air theatre on the lawns of the Castle.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company return to the Castle and proudly present a sparkling new production of everyone’s favourite summer show. Dressed in magnificent Elizabethan costume with a large ensemble cast and an enchanting original music score, this show promises to be one of the most delightful evenings of the summer. Fairies frolic in the starlit night and raucous tradesman prepare for their wedding feast performance, in this wonderfully funny and beautifully versed play by William Shakespeare.
Chapterhouse Theatre Company’s Producer, Richard Main states: “This year we are producing some of the most popular plays by William Shakespeare and we have put together a season that has something for everyone. One thing that we love to see is how many children attend our shows and this year we are performing the perfect family show, A Midsummer Night's Dream, which is a great introduction to both Shakespeare and theatre as a whole.”
The audience is encouraged to bring low back seating or rugs to sit on and a picnic. The performance will go on in all but the worst weathers so lets hope it is a glorious summers evening as we get close to midsummer night. Tickets for the performance are £12 for adults, £8 for children/students and £35 for a family group (2 adults and 2 children).
