Hart's Lodge - Traditional B&B and fabulous hosts!
Amongst the nicest people I've ever met...
Do you find ever find yourself thinking you want one type of experience then wishing when you get it that it were somehow different? Or put another way; have you ever found that some of the best times you've had were those that happened impromtu or at short notice? With that thought in mind, imagine booking a B&B and going for something modern and straightforward because it's safer, rather than gambling on finding that perfect combination of comfortable accomodation and incredibly nice hosts. You can't guarantee the latter of course so once again you arrive at a souless box, with little or no warmth or welcome. Well not anymore.
If I were looking for a few days away, then my idea of heaven is finding not only a lovely place to stay, but infusing that with a bit of traditional old school Mumsy affection and looking after and a home cooked breakfast worthy of King's. Rosemary and Dennis are the kind of people you can't help but like; full of fun and unencumbered by the fast pace of modern life. Delivering honest food, lovingly cared for gardens and a genuine interest in all their guests, they're the kind of people you just want to give a great big hug.
The house itself is full of character and genuinely feels like a happy home. The gardens with their centrepiece stunning man-made lake which Dennis has crafted out of the landscape over the years is truly breathtaking and for nature lovers and birdwatchers alike, will leave you salivating.
If you haven't been to the area before then staying here will be just like being spoiled by Grandma & Grandad during the holidays and they'll be able to give you a rich level of information on all the best things to see and do locally. If you are familiar with the area, then Hart's Lodge will I suspect become a home from home, and you won't need much more persuasion than this to be adopted into the fold. Personally I think there should be an 'e' in Hart's somewhere, because not only did I love it, I think you will too.
I'm somewhat late writing this piece after an up and down year since I was there, but hopefully better late than never. For more information, see some pictures below or phone them and have a chat.
