“To die for!” how many times have you heard that expression? Well, I can truly say that is how I came away from London Fashion week after the shows.
Frills, ruffles and bows predominate, with a Gothic Revival as the leading force. Navy blue makes a huge presence in all collections in luxurious fabrics and the best of navy blue was seen at Betty Jackson in a midnight blue dropped waist coat. Something that also caught my eye at BJ was a great little suit in navy jacquard with a knife thin pencil skirt and short fitted jacket – gorgeous!
I met up with the girls from Loose Ends at one of the shows and Marion was waxing lyrical about her new collections, which were arriving in the shop by the minute. Oska, the great German linen company, has some fabulous hooded linen tops and drawstring cropped pants, all available up to a size 20.(It’s amazing to find such a great range of fashionable linens in the larger sizes.) Loose Ends continues to stock a comprehensive range of Fenn Wright and Manson, which has some fabulous wedding outfits, which you can casual down for some less formal occasions.
Sarah from the Frock Shop was also at LFW busily hunting through established collections for great pieces from French Connection, Great Plains and Nougat... just arrived for spring at the Frock Shop, from Nougat, soft feminine styling in geranium and peony pink. Great Plains has fantastic basics as usual, which you can build your wardrobe around at affordable prices. Colours this season are Tiffany blue, washed indigo and chocolate. French Connections young urban styling, in strong upbeat colours, continues to be the Frock Shops best seller. Team all of this up with great fun, chunky, funky wedges from Brazilian company Azalea.
Now girls, I hope you are taking last months fashion advice and have bought that important piece, the dress. At Stanwells we have received our Temperley range, fabulous crochet dresses and the most beautiful feminine frocks awash with rainbow colours and groovy little crochet tops to wear with jeans. Great thing is, you won’t bump into your double on the Lymington party circuit as we only have one of most styles. Apparently Madonna has bought the rainbow striped dress, just like the one we have in stock. For ruffles, see Nicole Fahri for gorgeous silk tops in pastel colours. Just arrived today, Betty Jackson’s fabulous poppy prints, but don’t wait too long too visit, the sundress is a winner and the camisoles will look fabulous with a tan, when the sun comes out that is.
