If you have lived in or around Lymington for any length of time, you will probably have come across someone whose family has benefited from the truly amazing work that the team at Oakhaven perform on a daily basis. It is with tremendous pride therefore that Lymington Dot Com would like to support Oakhaven for at least the next month in this section. We never know when either ourselves or someone we care about might face a life-limiting illness and it is so important that Oakhaven and the people that run it so passionately and with true generosity of spirit and kindness, is there to help with such positive support in such difficult times. Without your donations, this re-assurance might not be there for all of us.
There are a myriad of ways in which you can support Oakhaven and we will continue to feature these throughout the year. Some of their events have become integral to our local community life like the annual 'Bike and Hike' and many others which you can check out HERE!
Oakhaven Trust, Registered Charity Number 900215, provides specialist palliative care and support to those facing life-limiting illness and their loved ones in both a home and hospice setting.
Our team of specialist Oakhaven nurses, doctors, counsellors and physiotherapist ease physical symptoms and offer psychological, spiritual and social support. Their care is tailored to suit the needs of each individual and, with a blend of expertise and compassion, the team offers support for people when they most need it. Since its foundation in 1992, Oakhaven’s free of charge services have grown to provide comprehensive palliative care to 100,000 residents in the New Forest and Waterside area. The following statistics show the many different ways that we support our community:
Oakhaven supports over 120 patients, their families and carers each week in our In-Patients Unit and Day Hospice as well as out in the local community.
Our Community Nurses make 2,500 contacts every year, through ‘one to one’ visits in the patient’s home, working with local GPs/hospitals or by telephone.
Our Bereavement Team makes over 1,600 contacts with the community each year through individual support, group work and telephone support.
The Day Hospice is a well used facility, appreciated by patients and their carers, with more than 1,000 attendances by patients annually.
Our Senior Physiotherapist makes 500 consultations and treatments each year in the hospice and community.
