Ladies….can you think of anything better to do of a Friday afternoon than shimmy round a designer clothes sale whilst sipping champagne or coffee surrounded by like-minded shopoholics? I thought not! This is why the ingenious idea dreamt up by the girls to combine food fun and fashion lead to the fantastic POD sale in graze on Friday 20th April.
The weather helped – it being a wonderfully sunny Lymington day – and it seemed to bring out the girls (and a couple of reluctant boys) in droves! Whilst the POD and Graze girls were still setting up there were people vying to get their hands on the bargainous designer pieces, including labels such as Orla Kiely, Day Birger Et Mikkelsen and Rützou to name but a few.
The POD girls recreated a small version of Polly’s über stylish shop at the back of the restaurant and it made for the ideal fashionista’s boudoir. Those ‘in the know’ popped in to peruse the sale and preview items and then to enjoy a ‘ludicrous lunch’ (2 dishes and a glass of champagne for £10) in the garden of Graze. “It was so much fun setting up and seeing so many excited girlies stumble across their bargains”, said Niki of Graze, “but they were lucky in fact that there was anything left because I got first dibs when we were setting up, and POD is my absolute favourite shop in a 100 miles radius!”
Fear not ladies if you missed out this time – This, the first sale was an experiment and owing to its resounding success, will be the first of many. The girls at Graze intend to have at least one sale a month from now on, featuring all of your favourite shops on the high street with a view to then putting on Sex and The City style ‘Sip and Shop’ evenings in the winter.
