One of the worst things about my job is that no sooner have I stumbled across a fabulous business, I am bound to reveal its whereabouts and sacrifice the opportunity it provides me to a wider audience. My recent foray into the aptly called ‘Curtain Exchange’ is no exception.

It is run by a couple of gorgeous ladies who claim they are Mother and Daughter, and not only does it provide those with amazing taste but limited budgets access to a wide selection of previously owned curtains, soft furnishings and sometimes furniture from the very best homes, it is also THE place to go for curtain alterations and advice on dressing your windows, bedrooms and reception rooms.

Anna Ashley (Mummy) has been designing and making curtains for over 30 years and there is not much she doesn't know about fabric, curtains & soft furnishings and her daughter Suzy trained with top London based interior designer Massone before setting up her own soft furnishing and interior design business www.thefinaltouch.co.uk which has been revered by the national press and clients alike.  Now dividing her time between clients in London, The New Forest and abroad, Suzy has partnered with her Mother and they have both created a luscious emporium at Setter’s Farm just outside Lymington where a cup of coffee and a great bargain await.

I have had the opportunity to study a few interior designers whilst growing up, both in the family and as girlfriends and the one thing I always admired is that they can look at an empty space and know immediately what should fill it. They always seem to have a little notebook in hand with exactly the right measurements for the space they seem compelled to fill and a raft of hidden treasure troves where they know they’ll find just the right thing at just the right time. Final Touch Curtains is already one of those treasure troves to a select few and until now has mostly been frequented only by those in the know.

If you find yourself reading this, then looking over your shoulder at a room you know ‘could do better’ (as my teachers always said of me) then may I venture to suggest that you sidle off to see Anne & Suzy and at the very least sort out your dodgy curtains once and for all. If you get in with these ladies, it needn’t break the bank and the next time you have people for dinner you won’t have to sit them with their backs to your windows.

Please say I recommended you, because having opened Pandora’s box, in the name of Lymington Dot Com, I’d like to try and ensure that I can still carry some favour with Suzy and Anne when it’s time to do up our place.

Although Suzy and Anne are the nicest people you can imagine and would always make you feel welcome, they’d probably appreciate a quick call before you pitch up, even if it’s just to get the kettle on, so please do give them a buzz from the mobile as you set off.

I’m smitten by them both as you can probably tell and hope you will be too! JS
