How to add your event for free on Lymington.com

Register on Lymington.com

  1. Open www.lymington.com and click on the orange ‘Log in’ button in the top right of the screen.
  2. Click on ‘Don’t have an account’ and you’ll be taken to the User Registration page.
  3. Complete the registration form with your name, email address and choose a password.
  4. Log in and from the buttons select “Add Event”

New Event

  • Provide the title of your event
  • Select a category - choose the most appropriate one for your event.
  • Add an image - you may have to reduce the size of your image (to “web” size) in order for it to upload.

Dates

  • It’s important to get this right, otherwise your event might appear several times in the calendar for the same event!

Single/one-off events:

  • Use ‘Single Dates’ to enter the date and start time of your event 

Event over a weekend or few days e.g. festival:

  • Use the ‘Event over a period’ section only (not the Single Dates - leave that blank)
  • Select the Start Date of the event and a start time. You will notice that this will automatically duplicate in the End Date.
  • Click on the End Date and an end time.
  • Leave the Week Days blank.

Weekly event:

  • Use the ‘Event over a period’ section only (not the Single Dates - leave that blank)
  • If your event happens in term time, select the Start Date as the first Monday of term with the time as the start of your event.
  • Select the End Date as the last day of term with the end time of your event.
  • Then click on Week Days and select the day(s) your event happens.

Identical event happening on several different dates:

  • (e.g. workshop happening third Wednesday of the month for 4 months)
  • Use ‘Single Dates’ to enter the date and start time of your event, clink on the ‘Add’ button to add more dates.

Longer event (e.g. festival over a weekend):

  • Use the ‘Event over a period’ section only (not the Single Dates - leave that blank!)
  • Select the Start Date of the event and a start time. You will notice that this will automatically duplicate in the End Date.
  • Click on the End Date and an end time.
  • Leave the Week Days blank.

Description

  • Short Description has a limit of 150 characters (not words). Include summary event information here including start and end times if relevant.
  • Long Description appears with the image as the main information about your event. Repeat summary information then include as much detail in here as you can to entice people to your event. 
  • Meta Description has a limit of 150 characters (not words). Repeat summary event information

Information

  • Its really important to put as much detail as you can in this section to ensure people know where to find your event, how to contact you etc.
  • You have to put in Town in order for the event to save. We advise you also enter the postcode as this will enable the google map and guide people to you.
  • It is optional to add any other attachments…this might be a pdf file of additional information for example.

CHECK! 

Please now check your event details before submitting. It is not currently possible for you to amend your event once it has been submitted.

  • When you’re ready, click on the orange Submit Your Event button. We will then receive notification of your event and will check it on the system before making it live. If you do notice an error, please email us on This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and we will make amendments for you. If there are many errors it may be better for you to start again and resubmit the event.
